Life in the New Century Gardens
Freezing! What happened to Spring?!?
Following abnormally high temperatures in May, I thought it was safe to plant the garden. Mother Nature, apparently had different plans. Frost. Not just frost, but SUB ZERO temperatures in JUNE!
Yes, we froze over the weekend. My beans and peas were up about two inches, and guess what? Apparently peas are hardier than even *I* thought, but three sixty-four foot rows of beans, which were so happy to be reaching for the sun, are now a pitiful mass of withered leaves and squishy stems.
Replanting will be done today, while I soundly curse the unpredictability of the Canadian climate.
At least we didn't get snow!
